I wonder if anyone still reads this site. I’m guessing probably not. It is sorely in need of a massive update because so much of the game has changed since I last played.
I received quite a lot of hate email from people several years ago when I dared to show my displeasure for the direction of the game. Mousehunt does that – it creates such passion in its fans that many of them are blinded to the real issues in the game. Most of the hate surrounded my displeasure of the GWH of 2016 (which WAS a disaster, and the Devs admitted as much), as well as my snarky paragraph at the end of the Furoma Rift guide page (more below on this).
I honestly thought that WordPress would have deleted this page when the domain expired. Turns out, the only thing that expired was the non-Wordpress link. Ha! So everything here is still running.
So….what now? Today, December 7, 2021, a day that won’t really live in infamy per say, but today DOES start the 2021 Great Winter Hunt. I’ll be posting about it. I’ll be participating. I came back to the game during the 2021 Halloween event, an event that was fun, which thankfully saw the devs do something different (different is good in Mousehunt). I still have serious questions about where the game is going, but hey, Mousehunt has now survived for almost 14 years. 14! That is incredible for any online game, and all credit to the development team for keeping the game going, even through some very difficult patches (like 2016…hey, I won’t let go of it. They get all the credit for the successes, they have to take the heat for the other parts too).
So the real question on all of your little chapped lips is…..will I update this guide? The short answer is “yes.” The long answer is, there is a lot of work to do and I don’t know when I will get around to fixing the guide. The beginning stages of the guide need a lot of work since the game has changed so much since I hunted in those locations. The trap and base pages need a facelift, because let’s face it, a lot has been added. I need to add sections for Valor Rift, Mousu Picchu, and Floating Islands. I’ll get around to doing all of that. This guide used to be the #1 guide in the Mousehunt community. Everyone and their mother came to this guide for up-to-the-minute information on the release of the Sunken City back in 2014. I was younger then. I am old now. LOL
On a personal note: I do want to apologize to the Devs for my harshness and overly critical nature several years ago. Again, the merits of what I said were correct, I just could have stated it differently. Frustration in my personal and professional life was at an all-time high in 2016-2017, and it bled over into this arena, and the Devs of of this game didn’t deserve that. Words hurt, despite what my mother once said. My new goal is to get this site back to what it was, and also to become one of the official guides for Mousehunt. I deserved that at one point in the past. Regardless of where we are now, I don’t deserve it now, but if I want to get there, I will have to earn it.
The comeback is on. Let’s get on to the Great Winter Hunt 2021!
